Lebanese Trade Unions Express Support for Raúl Castro Ruz
The National Federation of Lebanese Workers’ and Employees’ Unions (FENASOL) has issued a declaration of solidarity with Cuba, strongly condemning what it considers to be ongoing imperialist aggression by the United States against the island, its working class, and its political leadership.
The statement highlights U.S. denunciation against the former Cuban president for an action that occurred 30 years ago in defense of the Caribbean nation.
In the statement, the Lebanese labor union categorically rejected the media incitement campaign led by Washington against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, calling the accusations “false and fabricated” and lacking any legal or moral legitimacy.
For FENASOL, this escalation represents a prolongation of the policies of blockade, blackmail, and unilateral sanctions aimed at undermining the Cuban people’s steadfastness.
The document highlights that Cuba’s revolutionary and socialist experience has been, for decades, a guiding model internationally in the defense of sovereignty, social justice, and the rights of popular sectors.
Likewise, it reaffirms Cuba’s legitimate right, protected by the United Nations Charter, to protect its airspace and territorial security against provocations by terrorist groups established in Florida, which operate under the “open protection” of U.S. authorities.
The federation denounced that these aggressions are carried out through judicial manipulation as a complementary mechanism to the economic, financial, and energy siege.
Lebanese workers contextualized this offensive as part of a criminal policy of collective punishment that seeks to subjugate Cuba through starvation.
Suffering daily the rigors of the Zionist offensive against their own geography and institutions, actions militarily, politically, and financially supported by the White House, Lebanon’s working class embraces the Cuban cause as its own due to the shared struggle against the same global power centers.
The statement gratefully highlights the historical stance of Cuban leadership in favor of the causes of Lebanon and Palestine in international forums.
FENASOL ratified its unconditional support for the political and social choices of the largest of the Antilles and extended a call to the global labor and progressive movement to articulate joint actions to end the U.S. blockade.
The statement concludes by pointing out that Cuban resistance is coordinated on the geopolitical board to stop expansion plans that also favor Israel’s colonial interests.
