The Arsenal of Marxism

Socialist Viewpoint Editorial

Workers everywhere are under attack!

The sharp turn toward fascism that the U.S. government—and governments around the world are carrying out—demands a massive, united opposition from the working class on an international scale.

We need a united effort to form an independent, democratically organized mass coalition of groups and individuals united in defense of workers everywhere. Independence for this movement means it cannot be controlled by the capitalist political parties—the Democrats and Republicans.

We need mass demonstrations in support of workers’ rights!

Our goal is to organize a movement to oppose all the attacks on the working class by the Trump/Musk administration, attacks aimed at enriching the billionaires and impoverishing the workers.1 This movement can begin with mass marches and rallies on the same day in defense of workers’ rights, including immigrant rights, and against war and U.S. enabled genocide in Palestine and other areas in Southeast Asia and Africa.

We must defend the most vulnerable!

This movement must be independent of the Democratic and Republican Parties, for whom support of capitalism is their reason for being—and all capitalist political parties of genocide around the world.

We must unite against racist, class-based and bigoted attacks on immigrants, people of color, trans and LGBTQ people, and all workers, organized and unorganized, housed and unhoused, who are struggling to make ends meet while the billionaires continue to increase their obscene wealth as they plunder and pollute the earth!

An attack against one
is an attack on all!

The U.S. military is the most powerful and profitable military the world has ever seen. In addition to its bases at home, it has more than 750 bases2 in over 80 countries that stretch across the continents. It is actively enabling genocide across the globe and threatens the very survival of our planet.

A united front against fascism must be built now!

The power of the working class is in our numbers and our common interests to live in peace, with economic and social equality and justice for all.

The only way to defend the world against fascism is to unite our collective power over production—ultimately, to withhold our labor—to take charge of production and the profits we create for the good of all.

1 In the weeks since President Donald Trump has assumed office, more than 200,000 federal workers at more than a dozen agencies have had their roles eliminated. In addition to those who’ve been fired, 75,000 federal workers have accepted buyouts. Here are the agencies where workers are facing termination: Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security (in which half the more than 400 cuts were in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the rest from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and DHS Science and Technology.) Aside from Homeland Security, were cuts from the Department of Energy including the National Nuclear Security Administration, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture (USDA), Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of the Interior, among others.
